Indexer on Mac Snow leopard #9

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try to use the indexer on Mac snow leopard
2. get the error "command not found"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Using any available tutorials, to create an articles.bin, I should just
type the "indexer" command in the command line and the downloaded
foo.xml.bz2 in the same folder. When I do this, I get the above error
message. Some information is missing for me ;-)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Mac 10.6.2

Please provide any additional information below.
There should be a documentation what this indexer is (a command? an
utility?) and where to find it. Sorry to use this issue tracker for this
but it seems the the only central point for this software and it would be
nice to provide an up-to-date information right here instead in the several
forums out there in the depths of google searches...

make sure the indexer is executable, try "chmod 755 ./indexer"
then type the command “./indexer enwiki*.bz”

thank you, but this results in "chmod: ./indexer: No such file or directory"
(executed from the root or user folder) - I know I'm not unix-savvy, but
somehow it
seems there is no indexer on my system.

Dear Jasper,

This means you need to download a indexer.

The 'indexer' is not a part of OS X. You need to find the Wiki2touch 0.65
utilities for
Mac OS X, which I am even looking for.

Or you can just use the Windows one, somewhere at rapidshare.com.

I've just built the indexer and pack utilities from an older source code from
yahoo and
bing cache(, and yes, google cache was completely removed, which reminds us
that
monopoly is bad).

Download the following package (for 10.5, not tested on 10.6 yet):
