You may have merit but, we specifically allowed for any input for name attribute by the user for the case of inclusivity. We acknowledge the existence of hyphens and the like in different names which we may not be accustomed to. To illustrate this case, Elon Musks son has the name X Æ A-Xii and has the symbol Æ. Thus with this case, to ensure inclusivity for all, we purposefully did not prevent names from having symbols due to such cases. For further information please see https://www.w3.org/International/questions/qa-personal-names
Furthermore, we will provide an example closer to home. Adrian Tan Cheng Bock born 26 April 1940 is a Singaporean politician and medical doctor. A former member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayer Rajah SMC between 1980 and 2006. After leaving the PAP, Tan founded the Progress Singapore Party (PSP), serving as secretary-general between 2019 and 2021 and as chairman since 2021.
In the screenshot of our presidential candidate, there is an @ in his name which is the symbol that the tester purposefully brought out. See source https://www.facebook.com/SingaporeMatters/photos/a.710662802353449/1096112530475139/?type=3

Reason for disagreement: [replace this with your explanation]
Logically, it would be reasonable to disallow symbols like
@
as names, but seems like the name attribute can contain any character.
