Reduce versions in the generated docs #1568

This PR contains only the change log entry. The actual change was done in the RTD settings, by:

deactivating all versions below 1.0.0 and all stable_* branches
setting all non-latest fix versions of each minor version to hidden (but it remains active). This removes those non-latest fix versions from the version list shown in the docs, but links to these versions still work.
