Droid Bionic trying to VNC into ubuntu on phone. Get checkered screen.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.When I run the ubuntu installer it runs successfully, display of 1024x600.
2.I go to the viewer put in the right info, change it to 24 color since that is 
what will make the color work once VNCed in.
3.Once I hit connect, it connects successfully but there is just a checkered 
display and a black x in the middle of the screen, the cursor.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I should be able to see an Ubuntu Gnome desktop but instead I see a checkered 
screen.

What version of android-vnc-viewer are you using?
Version 0.5.0
Which VNC server/version are you using?  On which platform?
AndroidVNC and android 2.3.4
What is the size of the desktop you are trying to access (i.e. 1024x768,
1920x1080...)?
1024x600
What device are you using?
DROID Bionic 
Are you using a custom ROM?  If so, which?
ClockworkMod 5.0.2.5
Please provide any additional information below.
