Here's what the Oxford Dictionary gives on bodega:
bodega /bdayg/
• noun (in Spanish-speaking countries) a cellar or shop selling wine, or both wine
and groceries
And for example, in Jerez de la Frontera in Spain, the home city of sherry, the
production places for for example Tio Pepe and Pedro Domecq are called bodegas
as
well.
Your icon for winery suits perfectly :-)

I made a "resort" icon :
http://google-maps-icons.googlecode.com/files/winery.png
That's not the best effort, maybe it's too much things on a same icon.
Give your your opinion :)

I attached a "bungalow park" here... not sure too. It's really complicated to
design
this :)

3 barrels like these stacked could make a good icon for Bodega. We have lot's
of
those here in Spain.

I decided to work a little bit on more hotel icons.
I wanted to created 4 hotels, in relation with the stars the hotel have.

What do you think ? be sincere :)

I think this one can be better... The Icons almost never look good if one part
has
lots of transparency (the stars) and other don't (the hotel). Makes the icon
look
inharmonious some how if you know what I mean? I have attached two more ideas
to
play around with. //Matthias

You are right about the transparency...
Your ideas are good, especially the 1st one.

The second one is very standard for Hotel signs as I'm sure you are aware of.
Shall
we move on with that one and create 5 new icons, one for each star? Will you
do it?

To be honest, I am not really satisfied with the hotel icons we made.
First of all, I want to know if we are good with what we need :
* "Hotel" (a bed, with some stars)
http://google-maps-icons.googlecode.com/issues/attachment?aid=-16655993407692660
74&name=hotel5stars1.png
* "Bed & breakfast" or "Gîte" or "Pousada" (small house with a tree or something)
http://google-maps-icons.googlecode.com/files/hostel.png
* "Youth Hostel" (bunk beds)
http://google-maps-icons.googlecode.com/files/youthhostel.png
* "Resort" (building with pool)
http://google-maps-icons.googlecode.com/files/resort.png
* "Motel" (building with car parking)
* "Apartment hotel" (I don't know)
Tell me what you think.

If I may suggest: If you go for the "star" hotel icons, I would keep a
"generic"
hotel icon as well. For some purposes categorising hotels based on stars is
really a
bridge to far.
Furthermore, I see that resort has been changed from 3 separate houses to 1
building. But in the "colder" regions of Europe, resorts (or bungalow parks, as
we
use to call them in the Netherlands) are all about these small bungalows. So
the
original icon with the palm trees was already far fetched, but acceptable
because of
the 3 tiny bungalows, but now for me the icon has lost all meaning for the
context
where I intended to use it in. So I would request to keep an icon for "bungalow
parks" as well. I still feel the original one created by Matthias
(bungalow.png) is
very suitable for that purpose.

You are welcome Willem :)
Every idea is welcome too.
I see your point. You are talking about the bungalow I did :
http://google-maps-icons.googlecode.com/issues/attachment?aid=124088454962596504
3&name=bungalow.png
We can keep the two icons : resort and bungalow park.
I was intending to keep a generic hotel icon (without stars), like we did with
the
restaurants. We have specific restaurants (chinese, mexican), and a "just a
restaurant" icon.
So it does :
* "Hotel" (a bed, 6 icons : no star and 1 to 5 stars)
http://google-maps-icons.googlecode.com/issues/attachment?aid=-16655993407692660
74&name=hotel5stars1.png
* "Bed & breakfast" or "Gîte" or "Pousada" (small house with a tree or something)
http://google-maps-icons.googlecode.com/files/hostel.png
* "Youth Hostel" (bunk beds)
http://google-maps-icons.googlecode.com/files/youthhostel.png
* "Bungalow park" (small houses with pool)
http://google-maps-icons.googlecode.com/issues/attachment?aid=-16655993407692660
74&name=hotel5stars1.png
* "Resort" (building with pool)
http://google-maps-icons.googlecode.com/files/resort.png
* "Motel" (building with car parking)
* "Apartment hotel" (I don't know)

just a note - the one you are using for "bed and breakfast" is used extensively
on
many maps to mean "town site" - I've even seen it mean "ghost town."
Seeing that on a map wouldn't even come close to meaning "bed and breakfast" to
me -
however, it seems like that type of symbol would really only have meaning to a
very
specialized type of map and in that case the "owner" could have it mean
anything
that he wanted it to mean.

I am thinking in creating icons for brands, like Mc Donald's, Starbucks.
What is your opinion ?
