clearInventorySlot and setInventorySlot not working #1470

I really don't know any way to remove items from inventory at this point that would work. I've tried addItemInventory negative and I've tried setting the carried item count but I really can't seem to edit the inventory in the most recent release. If anyone could help me or tell me if this is a bug that would be great.
