Undock a hulk with a Survey Scanner II, warp to an asteroid belt. Start mashing the survey scanner. Initially you'll get a "can't do this while warping" error message. At some point during the deceleration, it will cycle.

You can also get answers that WAY beyond the 25km survey scan range limit.
