This undoubtedly provides a better user experience when using the script as a program, however... I want to really try to minimize the surface area of bash being depended on here. Part of the job of the build script is for it to be living documentation of how to bootstrap Zig; this use case is harmed by having too much logic inside of it. I know it's a bit of an arbitrary decision, for that I do apologize.
