Zomboid Mac Launcher Issue #12

Open Corbotron opened 12 years ago

Corbotron commented 12 years ago

I just purchased Zomboid and the Mac launcher isn't working for me. After downloading and attempting to launch it, I get the following message.

"ProjectZomboid" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

I've re downloaded several times and had the same issue.

I'm using a mid 2011 iMac, with Mountain Lion 10.8.1 an i7 processor and 16Gb of RAM. All my core software is up to date.

Many thanks for your help.

Luke

Hi Corbotron,

this is an issue with Apple's new protection in Mountain Lion. Since I didn't pay the necessary $99 to Apple, I can't sign the application and Mountain Lion will then claim that the app is damaged.

I think one of the workarounds is to right-click on the icon and select the "open" entry. Mountain Lion also doesn't include Java so you might have other issues there (or maybe it will just dowload it on first use). Let me know how it goes.

Cheers, Jonas

Hi Jonas. Thanks for the responce.

Turns out it is indeed to do with Gatekeeper for Mac blocking the app.

If you go to System Preferences and then Security & Privacy, you can tell a Mac to allow access. Under 'Allows applications downloaded from', you change the setting from the default 'Mac App Store & Identified Developers' to 'Anywhere'.

Knowing this, I believe the workaround you mentioned should also work.

Seems a bit cheeky that it tells you the software is 'damaged'.

Either way, I've got it running now.

Cheers,

Luke
