This is now pretty much working as of 2ff2f279dfbb99

Still to complete are:

[x] update _d_build_def_semtrex to be aware of the optional definition elements
[x] update all the defs to use the optional elements removing TREE and LIST (now moved to #48)

as of 3a6a92dd19 you can specify input signatures as optional
