http://librarian-puppet.com/

Never used it, but interested to see whether it's an approach that works for puppet as well as it does for chef

@tizzo Also, do you do skype? Toying with the idea for ariadne-vagrant (or some other comparable future project, if a fresh slate is more sensible). Was recently pointed toward the idea of taking a multi-vendor approach for the provisioner -- have one suite of tests to test the built environment, but satisfy those criteria using each provisioner.

It seems to avoid vendor lock-in, and also avoids alienating folks from the larger project goals simply because of the provisioner the project chooses -- because really, the goal is getting every Drupal dev developing on standard VM's, and making deployment of that environment to remote servers as simple as possible. But yeah, mind if I add you to skype? My skype handle is patrick.c.connolly

Also, wanted to put this on your radar @tizzo https://github.com/opscode/test-kitchen/issues/36

I followed the link from the test-kitchen issue (I build the demo using Puppet mentioned on that issue). Librarian Puppet does work really well. Here's a Vagrant middleware to use Librarian Puppet automatically: https://github.com/garethr/librarian-puppet-vagrant

Wow, thanks so much for the links! I had looked at puppet librarian before but thought that it added more problems than it solved since most people using the vm are comfortable with git sub modules and this would be a new thing for them to install, learn, and use. A vagrant middleware seems like a great answer.

At the moment I see this project being deprecated in favor of proviso so I'm closing.
