4channel unsupported. #1021

The skript doesn't work with the new 4channel domain.

Hello I would like to request an update to include the new 4channel domain as well. I do not like other 4chan scripts, only Appchan X and were it the greasemonkey version I am using I could fix it but I don't know how to compile Chrome extensions!

Please help zix!

@TidOS just install tampermonkey, grab the appchan-x.user.js file under builds, ctrl-f for 4chan.org, replace all with 4channel.org, and copy-paste into tampermonkey editor and save.

Ye but I like the extension version better plus wouldn't that make the NSFW boards kill? N.n.not that I view them or anything!

just keep appchan-x installed as an extension then

just keep appchan-x installed as an extension then

intredasting, I suppose that would work. Good enough for me!

Very simple edit but this will work for 4channel domains. What you need to do is have two separate installations of appchan x. The vanilla extension works for nsfw boards and this works for 4channel sfw boards. 4channel appchan x.zip

Works better than the simple edit I tried making. Still has a couple issues like the settings not being visible and the banner being stuck in the top left, but at least backlinks and everything else works. Good job.

What you need to do is this:

1) Go to a NSFW board with OG Appchan 2) Export your settings 3) Open settings in N++ 4) CTRL + F -> Replace -> replace "4chan" with "4channel" -> Replace all 5) Save 6) Go to 4channel board with fixed .js loaded 7) Import your edited export file

This made everything work 100% for me. The only thing I noticed was that the board logos were stuck but I did a blacklist of i.4cdn.org/title/* and removed them.

On chrome you can install the extension (for nsfw boards, no changes needed) and then install Tampermonkey and make a userscript with the .js file for your 4channel version.

Why can't you post it, exactly? It can't be illegal, can it? Moving stuff around would only be basic HTML or a self-made style or something, I presume.

I've been using appchan-x for years, too. The banner thing's kind of annoying, though I'm glad I figured out how to get this stupid 4channel bullshit back to the way I have things set up. Additionally, were you using uBlock with that i.4cdn.org/title/* thing? I tried that but that isn't working for me. I could always just manually target the element with uBlock and cut it out, but that isn't the same thing as what you did, I guess.

I'm not really good with this sort of thing. I'm just glad I have SOME sense of normality with what I'm used to, but I can't quite fix all of my issues here. This kind of stuff isn't anything I've touched in several years.

Backlinks and quote previews don't seem to be working for me on 4channel. I edited my existing script and did a fresh install using temenos7's edit. Everything works fine on 4chan.

Edit: NVM. I installed them both with the same name. Changing the name to 4channel before saving the script fixed it.

it work but recaptcha is in an inifinite loop and the images needs 3 clicks to get back on thumbnail size and the banner is set to the left corner

Edit: fixed the captcha issues where some ublock filter now the only issue is the banner to the left and some times backlinks work weird and the pictures

I've taken the base code and changed every instance of "4chan.org" to "4channel.org" Yet backlinks and post previews are completely broken nomatter what I try.

All the Youtube links are "Forbidden or Private" even though they are all working links. Not sure what the solution would be. EDIT: Anything on if/when the Chrome version will be updated?

Try this, then. YouTube links work (I think the old API key was just restricted to 4chan.org domain) and hovering over replies work.

Rather than just sharing an updated script, why don't you guys fork this and start a new repo? Make it communal or something. Zixaphir and I don't have the time nor interest to keep this script up to date anymore.

@IzzyData I get your point, but the fact stands that this code hasn't been maintained in 3 years. ccd0's branch of 4chan-x is currently the most maintained version of the script. It's not that we have a disdain for the community who use this, it's simply a lack of time and interest. Zixaphir doesn't go on 4chan much (if at all) anymore and I only go on /f/.

4chan X with OneeChan script does not have this problem.

i mean it just kind of stop working 2 days ago so i dont know if only meis still using appchan all this years or someone else has this issue the edit for 4channel still works is only for 4chan that has the issue of not loading? i have the script running on tampermonkey

The NSFW boards have been broken for me for awhile. Pretty sure nobody is going to update this though.
