Armory Import broken (2011.8.1.) Error: charcontrol.cpp line #835 #856 #883 #892 #959 #217

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Start wmv and allow the loading of wow or load it yourself
2.import a character from the armory and press ok
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
its expected that wmv loads the data instead it crashes

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
v0.7.0.1 r598 on Winxp 32-bit

Please provide any additional information like screenshot and log.txt
below.

the import just worked until 1. August 2011. i suspect blizzard changed
something again due to their blizcon advertize chance on their website so i
just suspect that this as well suspected armory change just happened to be
changed at the same date they start the ad
sometimes the crash produces an error message
"The instruction at "0x5f0895ec" referenced memory at "0x7ff50007". Memory
could not be read." which is allso reported at
http://code.google.com/p/wowmodelviewer/issues/detail?id=149
since this error message is not allways the case sometimes wmv just does not
load anything sometimes it crashes without error message i thought i make a new
issue about it

so far i tryed several versions of wow as well as the backup i made 4 days ago
to avoid problems with the mpq files my next step would be a total new
instalation of windows 2000 to make sure whats happening exactly. btw no
changes at all were made to the computer system or its software befor (when it
still worked 3 days ago) and after it stoped. what was done is that i tryed to
open some wmo files only with low succes rating maybe one out of 20 models
worked (export of them also crashed the program but thats as well another
issue) this one is primarily on "armory import does not work since 2011.8.1.

the import works (without crash) also with cache and without cache files loaded
also with de or en testet worked as well

one little issue remains (i cant figure out how it comes to that)
one male dwarf import leads to a female model in wmv
another male dwarf import leads to a male model in wmv

male dwarf that ends up beeing female
http://eu.battle.net/wow/de/character/anubarak/Strongarms/simple

male dwarf that ends up beeing male (as expected)
http://eu.battle.net/wow/de/character/anubarak/Stef/simple

i manualy edited the save character files to change female to male
but you have to change the facial and skin numbers as well otherwise you again
get the error of "The instruction at "0x5f0895ec" referenced memory at
"0x7ff50007"

resume: import works only sex sometimes is missinterpreted

thanks for the work you put in

Sadly, the male/female issue isn't something we can fix. According to the API
data that Blizzard sends out, Strongarms is Gender 1 (female) and Stef is
Gender 0. (male)

Other systems that depend on the API for data will have this issue too. You're
best bet is to email/call your local Blizzard representative and notify them of
the issue.
