Unable to save preferences

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go to preferences
2. Mark use external player, and use the code: vlc
3. Just go to preferences again, or restart sopcast and go to preferences, it 
is changed back to the default

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see the option external player marked with the code vlc.
I see the default settings: option, external player, is not marked and code is 
mplayer -ontop -geometry 100%%:100%%

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
SopCast Player 0.4.1
Ubuntu 10.10

Please provide any additional information below.
Nothing is saved in preferences (e.g. channel guide or static ports)

yup, same behaviour and it changes I had made to the location of the channel 
guide xml file are also returned to default.

Thank you for solving it! I am the one who posted this issue.
I had this problem, but when I try SopCast now it works!

SopCast Player 0.7.5
Ubuntu 11.04
