On 1.16.5 forge 36.2.0 if you click the cosmetic armor menu with an item in hand it dissapears

do the item get dropped out of your inventory? or just visually disappear?

I had this same issue on forge 36.2.0 (it also affected Curios), and I fixed it by updating to forge 36.2.19.
