KJFK increase realism [Proposal] #193

Closed MaicomMR closed 8 years ago

MaicomMR commented 9 years ago

Hello to everyone again, I've been thinking about improving the realism of the airport KJFK creating specific files of airlines apra fly there, the system would be similar to that utilized in SBGR and SBGL, create airlines with "na-" before his name, and those having only aircraft using to make routes to the US and Canada. I thought I'd use this table (wikipedia) to create companies from the most real way possible.

I opened this topic because I do not know if there is the intention of the need to improve this issue, or do you think it just acresentaria weight to the game against the benefit? Sorry about my english, I'm using Google translator.

My main concern is the weight of adding additional airlines in this manner. The current load times for the game are getting long and every single .json which is added increases load by a significant amount.

There is also significant duplication if we continue this route of creating new airlines to represent a different fleet mix.

The solution I've been considering is to allow individual airlines to specify different fleets for different route types. Think for example at SBGR instead of having 'sa-ual have 'ual/longhaul' then at KMSP it would be 'ual/shorthaul' and KSFO would just be 'ual' where it uses all fleets or the default fleet.

I haven't done any specific research, but I suspect having longhaul and shorthaul fleets would cover 90% of the existing issues and another couple of fleet types (shortfield?) could cover everything else off well enough.

@MaicomMR, when (if?) #292 is merged you should be able to update JFK without the drawbacks of copying airlines in the previous manner. I would love to see JFK with a more realistic aircraft mix as you have proposed.

Airlines can now be added with ease, and no negative impacts on performance or load times. Closing.
