The current reason that #4 is blocked is that the output path of the build script for book_tests is monkeyed with by Nix. Maybe we could generate the source ahead of time and check it in. This would require a few things:
forking skeptic so that you can specify an output directory, call the fork side_eye
coming up with a mechanism to regenerate that file every time the guide source changes
