unix ftp causes unexpected stop

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. launch swiftp
2. (client side terminal) ftp ftp://user@url:port
3. (client side terminal) enter password at prompt

What is the expected behavior? What do you see instead?
I would expect my ftp client (running terminal on mac osx) to 
connect successfully to the swiFTP app.  Right after I enter my password
the app quits unexpectedly.

What version of the product are you using?
SwiFTP Server 1.11

What operating system are you using?
Mac osX 10.5.6

What FTP client are you using?

What do the server log and session monitor say around the time that the
error occurs?

Please provide any additional information below.

I attempted to reproduce this with Ubuntu's command line FTP app without 
success. I
don't have access to a Mac to make a real attempt to reproduce this.

I'm unclear about which app is quitting unexpectedly: SwiFTP or the FTP client?

Marc.robins, if you're following this issue, could you copy and paste the 
output from
your terminal? Also, if you could watch the SwiFTP server log and report what 
it says
around the time the problems occurs, that would be helpful also.

I just tried with os x 10.5.6's built in ftp command line client and SwiFTP, it
works, no disconnection, no software crash...
