Activate Edit mode by long pressing widget header? #91

I'm looking for a new and efficient way to activate the Edit mode. An equivalent alternative to the Swipe right action, which I'm currently using to un/fold widgets.

Maybe something like long pressing the widget header?

Long pressing an item is already the most common way to edit something, so it would be both intuitive and efficient.

I don't understand what the problem is, as the global edit mode opens via a long hold on the search button.

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific.

It takes two steps to open the Global edit mode (first long holding the search button, then pressing the edit widgets button). I'm looking for a faster alternative that can open the Edit mode in one single step.

It seems to me that opening global edit mode is a rare enough task for which it's fine to use two clicks.

Yes, but I wasn't looking for a new way to open the GLOBAL Edit mode. I was looking for a new and fast way to open the SINGLE Edit mode.

In other words, a way to edit a widget using only one click.

And editing a widget is not a rare task in my opinion. Otherwise I don't understand why you created the Swipe right action > Edit mode, in the first place.

The reason for choosing the widget editing gesture is quite different. I needed a way to show new users that each widget has different display modes and settings. Swiping to the side was a good choice, because many users intuitively swipe sideways because they are used to doing it in other launchers to switch screens.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Yes, swiping sideways is an intuitive gesture, but I wouldn't call it a very intuitive way to edit things. It wouldn't really be a users first choice, when intentionally trying to edit a widget for the first time.

Long pressing the widget header however, would be an obvious and also efficient choice to edit widgets. That's why I thought this could be a useful addition to the existing widget editing swiping gesture.
