Does the tray icon work for other Flatpaks for you?
Yes, you can see the Chrome tray icon in the screenshot. Notable, Telegram's tray icon is not showing either.

I noticed that as you mentioned it, however I didn't know if Chrome was running as Flatpak as well, hence my question.
I am setting up a Rocky install right now to see if I can reproduce this issue.
Ok so I did a bit of testing in a VM and I can indeed reproduce the issue, though sadly I have no idea why this is happening.
It must be something specific to this distro as this is the very first time I see this kind of issue.
Given that Flatpak is supposed to be distro agnostic, I will not be adding any distro specific fixes anyway.
I definitely understand that. Rocky is meant to be bug for bug compatible with RHEL, like CentOS used to be. Have you tried RHEL?
Have you tried RHEL?
I haven't and last time I tried it, I found it to be behind an account wall and a paywall, so that is a bit tricky.
I've submitted an issue to Rocky as it is likely caused on their (or RHEL's) end.
Thank you for that, I am happy to assist in case I can help in any way.
I am having the same issue on Linux Mint. It was previously working for the longest time, but now it's not showing up in the tray.
I haven't done any changes to the code or the Flatpak runtime for quite a while now (I only updated syncthing itself to the latest stable version), so I am not sure there is anything I can do.
Seems to work again after restarting the PC. Haven't had an issue since. False flag.
Just installed syncthingy and it is running, but the tray icon is not showing up in the taskbar (you can see a chrome icon but no syncthingy icon). Opening the web ui manually works so syncthing itself is running fine.
