Add label for retired subjects. #205

A user just commented today to ask if we could grey out retired subjects from the artist selection page. I suspect this is a relatively easy thing to do. What do you think @rogerhutchings and @eatyourgreens?

rogerhutchings commented 8 years ago

It's not. We'd need Nero to mark the set as inactive, as the only way to know whether it's been done or not is to get all the subjects in that set and see if there are any unretired. So to do all the sets, we'd have to get all their subjects. I think.

I'll ask @marten to have a look at Nero stuff, I'm pretty sure Greg was working on it at one point.

VVH commented 8 years ago

Ok, it'd be a really nice change. Thanks @rogerhutchings

rogerhutchings commented 8 years ago

Marten said it should be fairly straightforward to set a property on sets after all their subjects are retired, so they won't show up at all

VVH commented 8 years ago

This request has been raised on talk again (2nd August). @marten can you weigh in and let us know if this is a backend change that you could make with relative ease and/or if there is anything @rogerhutchings would need to implement? This is low hanging fruit and it would be nice to just get it done as we approach the 1 year anniversary of the project.

just checking i understand, does this require the subject set to be greyed out? So it'll need a completed value serialized from the api...?

eatyourgreens commented 8 years ago

Can you just unlink the subject set from the workflow, like Comet Hunters does when their sets are completed?

camallen commented 8 years ago

@rogerhutchings are the sets hard coded into the Annotate UI?

VVH commented 8 years ago

I like @eatyourgreens' suggestion. Removing sets automatically when all subjects are retired would be great. Whether the artist is then greyed out on the 'Select Artist' section, or the individual MSS have a little flag indicating they are complete, I don't mind. Sounds like Jim's suggestion would be easier though.

camallen commented 8 years ago

@VVH just confirming that the comet hunters team manually removes those completed sets from the workflow, it doesn't happen automagically.
