Classification counter keeps resetting? #282

Some reports that the counter on the classification interface keeps resetting back to the volunteer's original number of classification. This is a worry - but I cannot reproduce this error! Signing out and signing back in, I see the correct number. @Capella05?

Here are some screenshots - as you can see the classification count resets back to my original (timestamp visible in lower right for clarification).

Great, thanks @Capella05. I tried the same sequence of operations and my counter keeps track correctly. Can you please look and see what messages there are in the View->Developer->Javascript Console please? @chrissnyder seems to understand those, at least :-)

  • Google Chrome 44.0.2403.157 m
  • Window 8.1
  • I never logged off, I navigated away from the classification interface and when I returned the classification count had reset.
  • I can also reproduce it by refreshing the page.
  • It does not matter if I do 1 or 9 classifications, it always resets back to the original.

There are no console errors apart from an initial 404 error to do with collections. See Screenshots below. The second image was taken after refreshing the screen.

Great, thanks Julianne. Looks like a genuine bug.

I wonder if this is something affecting large numbers only? Is it possible, @mparrish @chrissnyder?

Hi @chrissnyder - this is still an issue for @Capella05. Any idea what might be causing this? She is rightly worried that her classifications might not be being counted!

Two more users (that we know of) are experiencing this problem ElisabethB & MingMing

Did some work towards this in 086245f6ce12859e52cb5bf69e1f2bf3b4fac874. No idea if I solved the root cause or not.

@Capella05 mentioned that this might not be SW specific, (but non-panoptes based prjoects),@DZM has opened an issue about this
