message on condorwatch that all photos are classified - #87

Open myraf opened 9 years ago

myraf commented 9 years ago

hi, our moderator just e-mailed us this: "CW site is giving the message that all the photos have been classified and so the project is done.

I don't know if it is or if this is a glitch. Last night I was on at 10 pm CT answering things and when I went to "classify photo" I'd get the Tutorial photo only. After about four pictures you get the message "Looks like we've run out of subjects! Please check back later.""

At about 10:30 pm CT every page would log me out and if I tried to log in it would say "log in page unavailable"

can you look into this as the users are thinking the project might be over. thank you!

I can’t replicate this; is it a recent error?

(Problems last night are likely the result of some changes we were making ahead of a big BBC push for a new project today).

Hi Chris,

The error now seems to be that anytime you hit “Return to Classifying” you have to do the tutorial but I do not get an ‘all images classified’ message.

Thanks

Myra

I believe I fixed the issue with the tutorial starting after one clicks "return to classifying", but I was unable to replicate the other issues, so I'm not sure if those are fixed.

myraf commented 9 years ago

It does look like the tutorial issue is fixed – thank you!

We can’t replicate the other issues our moderator told us that she experienced last night either. We will post another note on github if we hear that there are still problems.

Thank you!

Myra

just got this from our moderator regarding the issue -- one of the users is reporting that after 10 or 20 photos they are getting the 'all images classified' screen but we can't repeat that and are asking for clarification. two things different with site now

1} The Tutorial photo page every time you sign in. This was an old glitch from the Early Days that took a long time to get fixed so it's as if the site was reset back to some early coding.

2} If you hit the "refresh" arrow on the browser page, you WILL get a new photo to classify and in this manner you can skip the photo you have been given.

chrissnyder commented 9 years ago

If a single user is getting a "we are out of images message", that typically means they have classified all available data.

1) This sounds like a separate issue that I can't replicate. Can you post a new issue with some more details?

2) This is true of all of our projects. That said, if the user doesn't submit a classification for an image, they will eventually get it again.

srallen commented 9 years ago

I think my update yesterday fixed the issues with the tutorial. The issue with running out of subjects I couldn't replicate either.

myraf commented 9 years ago

here is more detail from one user who is having a problem with the 'all images classified' screen: "mapat is still unable to classify anything and is still getting the message that there are no more photos to classify after she does 2-3 photos. She is on Chrome and cleared her cache as I instructed her. Interestingly she said she made a NEW account and it is fine and she can do everything. When she gets back on her mapat name she gets the error that there's no more images to classify. She does a ton of classifications so I wondered if she's got some kind of glitch on her actual account."

chrissnyder commented 9 years ago

This is indeed her having classified every single active image. The reason starting a new account works is because that account hasn't classified anything on the project in our system.

vjbakker commented 9 years ago

Is it possible for the science team to check the number of classifications for specific users, or see a summary of top users? I know it is possible to check one's own tally at zooniverse.org, and also know we can calculate from the delivered data, but there are various times when it would be useful to check it in real time.

myraf commented 9 years ago

we just received some more information from mapat - she thinks she may have classified around 3000 images but it seems impossible for her to have done all the active images. She started classifying in January 2015 and if she signs onto her account she can classify 3-30 images which are new and then she'll get the "all images classified" screen.

DarrenMcRoy commented 9 years ago

We looked at mapat's account. She (or at least, her account) has done 26,000 images, including the entire active set. Those 3 to 30 new images are ones that are entered into the active set once other images are completed/removed.

vjbakker commented 9 years ago

We're concerned that this seems impossible. She has apparently only been on CW since Jan19, or about 8 weeks before she maxed out. She would have to do 58 images/hr and work 8 hrs/day, 7 days/wk for the entire 8 wks to get 26,000 images classified. She estimates she has done ~3000 images.

Also, I may be confusing classifications and images, but we only get 4-5k classification/wk, which would mean Mapat is responsible for about half of all classifications.

Finally, it seems coincidental that she started getting the "all images classified" message when others also started getting it, but the message resolved for others and not for her. I'm at a loss to explain it, but is there any way this could be a glitch in her account?

DarrenMcRoy commented 9 years ago

Moderator wreness adds

"... after [Mapat] reported this (and they had said she'd done them all!) I asked her to look again 2 days later and it said she'd done 12,000 images in those 2 days. This was using the increase in page numbers via her profile page>Zooniverse main page."

12,000 images in 2 days is not possible, you're right. I am at a loss except that her account glitched somehow... ?
