Apparently if the focus is not in a text field it is a keyboard shortcut for the back button: http://blog.laptopmag.com/disable-backspace-chrome-ie-firefox
Possible fix: http://ux.stackexchange.com/questions/53176/why-does-backspace-go-back-a-page-this-behavior-is-so-frustrating
It might be down to different handling of keypress by Firefox vs IE and Chrome. Hopefully 42ca26d9ed9fc0c4e233eeed11d8ccb6d486cf03 will fix it.
Looks like that commit fixed it. http://talk.operationwardiary.org/#/boards/BWD000000m/discussions/DWD0000eol?page=2&comment_id=53c7c026cf95187f2400004e
Reported on Talk here http://talk.operationwardiary.org/#/boards/BWD000000m/discussions/DWD0000eol Seems to affect IE and Chrome on Windows, but not Firefox.
I'm baffled.
