Firefox not providing cross marks (laptop+ubuntu user) #87

Open AvastMH opened 8 years ago

Hi Cam - Zuzi (yshish) is very busy just now so I'm trying to cover a problem with FF. Our user, rhani, is not getting marks.

The details are in this thread: https://talk.penguinwatch.org/#/boards/BPZ0000007/discussions/DPZ0000kfc?page=1&comment_id=570a1fa8861f895276000fdd

Using my IBM with windows& and the same FF it's really slow on showing directly placed marks, but if you decide to drag a mark you get the usual circle-and-cross straightaway.

I have suggested that rhani try Google Chrome if possible. I await her reply If I should have posted this message elsewhere please do let me know Cam....

Best wishes, Joan (AvastMH)

Thanks, @AvastMH Just to mention that it is not only rhani, more volunteers reported that problem to me via personal messages.

Joan, you can use @camallen to get Cam's attention more easily.)

Hey @AvastMH sounds like penguinpenguin didn't click the first question properly (so no mark type selected) so they couldn't mark penguins (I still fall for this too).

No one on the team could replicate the slow marker (I use Ubuntu 14.04, FF 45.0). Were you using a touch screen (you mention moving to a mouse to drag)?

Last night I swapped to Firefox to check it (another job for us moderators) and found that I had to wait perhaps twenty seconds to see the mark turn up. However if I started the mark and used my mouse to drag it, it suddenly decided to appear properly, but a bit shaky still.

It might be a FF add-on causing troubles too, perhaps try without? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

Let us know what you find out.
