Adding social media buttons to front page #92

I noticed galaxy zoo got social media icons (We don't need the blog one since we we have an link in the navigation menu). Would it be possible to get twitter, facebook, and g+ icons on front page of P4? Maybe only on the front page?

Actually, I think this is a good a time as any to give the homepage a bit of an upgrade anyway. It still references SGL which happened 16 months ago.

@heathv I'll talk with you further about this on Tuesday, but could you work up something new and fresh for the homepage that includes social icons?

Probably time to get rid of the stargazing live reference? It's been 1.5 years since launch at BBC Stargazing Live

Also I don't know is this falls under this, but I thought I'd mention it.

We don't have a tutorial button or help button on the interface. A day before launch a text hyperlink got added on the bottom right below the cutout to be that . But if it does, maybe worth adding a more obvious tutorial button to the interface tool menu and/or having the examples page load via a help button?

Totally understand if this does fall under maintenance and can't be done right now.

Can I make a suggestion of still having some tag line? I get the impression when I talk to people about the project that they don't quite remember immediately Mars is the 4th planet, so explicitly having a tag line with Mars in it, I think is very helpful.

Most people probably understand the icons and what they mean, so maybe we don't need explanation of them.

I pushed a version to plaentfour.org/beta. Not really sure what I'm shooting for here so I'm going to wait for Health/Grant to make some comments before I deploy anything here.

I think that looks great, Chris. Perhaps throw the G+ button in if you're feeling frivolous?

I defer to the graphic designer, but here's my two cents anyway if wanted. My first thought looking at the page is making the start exploring button to go before the social media buttons so it's more of a focus on the page.
