The marks appear far away from the place they should #69

When Kirsten clicks on a plankter, the yellow mark is appearing to the side of the plankter instead of on it (and it's quite far away). She didn't know how to remove the wrongly placed marks so I guess these were classified with marks outside of the plankton: APK00093z9, APK0007ap2, APK0008jv2 (She cleared her browser cache but it didn't help.)

She took some screen shots of misplaced icons. Here they are:

  1. SCREENSHOT n.1: She clicked on the copepod, and the marker appeared far away.
  2. SCREENSHOT n.2: She clicked on the center of the Twocups hood and the mark appeared above it.
  3. SCREENSHOT n.3: She clicked on the budding Doliolid with no mark (on the right), and the marker appeared above it; while the marker appeared in the correct place for the other doliolid.

She's using Firefox 37.0.2. on Win7 Z.

..Which brings me to the questions, whether it wouldn't be helpful to mention the possibility of removing wrongly placed marks in the Tutorial + showing how to do so. What do you think?

I haven't been able to replicate this either. Is this the same person having issues with the tutorial in #68?

Tutorial content questions are for @DarrenMcRoy. Perhaps this can be in a FAQ on talk?

Yes, it is the same user, Kirsten

I can reproduce the bug in a setting that resembles that of Kirsten based on the screen shots.

  1. go to www.planktonportal.org with Firefox
  2. zoom in so that the image takes more than the full browser window
  3. scroll to the right
  4. click somewhere towards the left edge of the browser window

= the window scrolls left and the marks is placed far left of where the user clicks.

This does not happen on Chrome/Safari but they have a different concept of zoom if I recall correctly.

@yshish, you saw something similar too right? From Talk

After scrolling down the Classification page, when the top part of the image is out of the screen, it jumps itself at the moment when I click to classify a plankter so the mark gets placed on a wrong place. It doesn't happen when the image is too low (=you don't see the bottom part). I guess It cannot be reproduced on big screens:) My laptop screen is so small that I have to scroll down under the top menu to see the whole image.

I guess Kirsten might not have zoomed that much but she may have a small screen. One immediate solution would be to tell her to use another browser...

Actually, @yshish you have reported this as #67

I would bet this is due to the same behaviour (i.e. the mark gets shipped by the size of the pop-over with categories or something like this).
