Top 20 ships to include in launch page + photos #363

Closed trouille closed 9 years ago

trouille commented 9 years ago

Here's the list of the top 20 to include in main page for the launch. Chosen because among the easier logbooks to read and many have images (choice by Kevin & Michael):

For those marked as not having an image, please use the the image attached here called: icon_ship.jpg (not the one you're currently using).

Cut pages Kevin has listed should correspond to the image number, not any printed page numbers in the logs.

The metadata for all ships except for ODHS 938B Progress is found by: http://www.whalingmuseum.org/explore/library/logbooks-journals > view logbook > click here for description > http://www.whalingmuseum.org/explore/library/logbooks/congress-kwm_55 (for example) Some urls have /digitized-logbook-shipname-refnum and others only /shipname-refnum.

@trouille, there's an A and B logbook for Grampus (ODHS 948), William Baylies (ODHS 956), and Milo (KWM 351). Are there specific ones I should choose from? Should I include both?

trouille commented 9 years ago

When there are A and B logbooks, we do want to include both in the full data set the community will eventually see. From what Kevin has written, these are separate logbooks. This means you'll definitely want to include the 'A' or 'B' designation so it's clear they're two separate logbooks.

For our Top 20, I believe the Grampus A and B is the only pair we've included in the list. And, for example, we only include William Baylies ODHS 956A (and not B) in the Top 20 list.

@trouille do you have the original copies of the ship images? Their filenames have been replaced with gibberish and is impossible to tell the ships apart.

Yes, emailed.
