I know this is about a very obsolete hardware but when I'm downloading m4a's through Zotify, I'm getting audible glitches when playing it on my old iPod 5.5. On my computer these alacs sound good. When switching to mp3s I don't get these glitches at all however.
Maybe not an issue per se, but if someone happens to use obsolete hardware and they end up here, they should try mp3's or another lossy format when trying to play it on an old iPod classic or whatever oldie they have.
I have downloaded a shitload of mp3s by now and all of them are spotless when it comes to quality (when the quality is set to highest).
