i have also tried pax.Z format package and find below error while trying to unpack it using pax-rvf *.pax.Z Error : pax: checksum error on tape (got 3630, expected 0) i have extracted it using winrar on Windows and same GIMPAF.XML still invalid
@jackjia-ibm or @FlappiTomic , do you know whether the z/OSMF workflows are working correctly for v2 ? I haven't tested it myself (I was planning to do it for PI3 and create some video guides) but it looks as though maybe we're encoding the XML files incorrectly ? I can't remember who initially wrote the workflows
i think the main problem is in files packing some the GIMPAF.XML file must be ascii encoded looks like it's binary ; ZOSMF work flows are generally working but ZOWE PSWI is not extracted and cannot be continue as ZOSM cannot read content of GIMPAF.XML
Hi @pavelzlatnik, wondering if you could help with z/OSMF workflows questions here. Thanks!
@MohammedAksheikh I have checked the latest PSWI and everything is fine for me. Have you followed these instructions? If you still need help, please open an issue here https://github.com/zowe/zowe-install-packaging/issues
actually i am using ZOSMF directly ; and it uploads the files and start the operation below is what i got from ZOSM PSWI task :
_The portable software instance descriptor file "/u/smpnts/zowe/GIMPAF.XML" or its directory does not exist on system "CSOSYSA001".
if it's possible i can attaches some screenshots
First, I want to verify, you want to install zowe v2 (and not zowe v1)? We have checked latest PSWI build, GIMPAF.XML was possible to normally open in 3270 ispf panel after PAX was unpaxed. To be able properly register ZOWE PSWI in zosmf, you have to follow this procedure: The z/OSMF product acquisition process consists of the following tasks. 1.Download the portable software instance from Zowe downloads and transfer it to the mainframe. 2.Register the portable software instance in z/OSMF. So I would guess you either improperly downloaded to your workstation, or improperly uploaded the PAX into mainframe via FTP (default transfer format instead of proper one, etc.) Because you should register PSWI in zosmf after those steps were properly done. I am not sure what you mean by "I am using ZOSMF directly", I would recommend to follow the procedure as is documented and tested. https://docs.zowe.org/stable/user-guide/install-zowe-pswi-acquire
ok ;thanks so much i will follow the procedure ; i think it might be scp transfer instead of ftp ; i will follow the procedure ; thank you all with you all the best
I have downloaded ZOWE PSWI for ZOSMF but found that GIMPAF.XML is invalid
