This is a preference pane for Mac OS X 10.7+ that enables hardware media keys (prev, play, next) to be routed to 3rd-party sandboxed applications in a nice way, without unwanted side effects. This has been specifically created with G-Ear, a native Google Music player for Mac in mind, but any suggestion or patch is welcome!
This is kind of a silly issue, but it'd be nice to add a screenshot of the preference pane to the readme that is shown here on GitHub.
Also, it would be nice if you clarified if the preference pane lets you route the media keys to any program or just to G-Ear, and whether it is possible to use the play button to open a program other than iTunes.
Finally, does this uninstall cleanly by just deleting the preference pane? Does it have any performance impact (i.e. does it have any process constantly running to capture the keyboard events)?
