Alternatively, why not just not move the map when you click on "clear"? This avoids repeated prompts to request your location.
Not user friendly. Of course I have been moving the map manually for now three years, but that's just super annoying. My mouse rolled kilometers because of it!
So to confirm: if I have plotted a route, change my mind and click clear, the map should move back to my current city, rather than staying focused on the mountain it is currently focused on? That seems like unnecessary use of location data, and most people aren’t on the mountain when they are plotting a route. If we do need to support a “go to current location” feature, why not do so with an explicit button on the map, so that location permissions are only requested when the user actively wants them?
Actually... now that you phrase it this way, I'd be even happier not to recentre anywhere at all, just stay where my last route was!
I think outdooractive works that way
The Clear Map button on the route planner has been recentring on the Zugspitze so far. For users based outside Germany that is annoying. Couldn't we have it recentred on the user's current location instead, assuming the users gave approval to disclose their location?
