Hardware keyboard
I think Enter intentionally acts as a 'new line' but that would be possible. @luckyraul how does it work on the other chat apps you've tried?
Almost everywhere a new line. I think it should in the settings.
We had another request for this in 2020-06, filed as #4144:
A user requested the feature to enable sending messages from a physical keyboard attached to an iPad device here.
Currently, the
Enter
key only inserts a newline. The user suggestedCtrl+Enter
to send the message, as other apps also follow this shortcut.
Another user requested it on that thread in 2021-07.
This would be good to add. Let's use Ctrl+Enter, because that's what it sounds like other apps use.
I have the same issue in the iOS app, whether I use an external (hardware) keyboard or the iOS (software) keyboard. Note that the iOS software keyboard has no CTRL key. The web app allows you to choose between Enter and CTRL-Enter, so Enter is the only option there. Shift-Enter might make more sense.
Is there any progress on this? It’s been years and sending a message on iOS remains impossible with the keyboard.
I would love to see this as well; I have a hardware keyboard and would love to send via Ctrl-Enter.
Is it possible now to send a message via hardware enter on android? or at least shift+enter?
