This is an issue I and a lot of students in our class experiences as well. This is also affecting the battery of the laptops, they are out of battery within a couple of minutes.
@fawaz91 Can you send me more information on your system? (In Amua go to Help -> Error Log and scroll down to system properties) @krijkamp Do you know if this is only affecting Mac laptops, or is it all computers? I would expect running Monte Carlo simulations to use a lot of CPU (especially if multi-threading is turned on), but otherwise I'm not sure what would be causing the CPU usage.
For the Mac laptops this issue was the strongest. These laptops were out of battery in ~15 minutes. For the other computers (I just asked a Dell user) the battery % went done 10% in 5 minutes. This happened without running any analysis. Just having the program open was already enough.
Hi, The same case with me as Eline, that just openinh the software drained the battery when i logged into activity monitor it said to have used 114% of cpu etc. And the fan of the mac were continuously on until software is minimized.

Do you have a model open, or just the program?
Can you see if the problem scales with the number of nodes in a model? There might be something going on with drawing the components.
Hi just the program open here at the error log statistics

I don't see the error log stats - can you try copying it in again? Thanks
I think I figured out the problem - there was recursive repainting of icons going on, which was consuming CPU just having the program open. This should be fixed now. Please try this test version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/62l1gd3cevze50r/Amua_0.2.8-TEST2.jar?dl=0 and let me know if the problem is solved.
Thanks for alerting me to this issue!
Thankyou so much. I would just try the program again and hopefully it is fixed. I appreciate your time to look into this :)
Best Fawaz

This issue should be resolved as of 0.2.8
Everytime i use AMUA on MacOS it overheats my macosx and the software takes up more 100% CPU usage is this because of java or some thing with the software in MAC affecting the softwares performance.
