Any chance you are in contact with them? We require all firmware updates to be contributed or approved by the manufacturer.

I'm not affiliated with the company, but I have a support case opened with them.

I've started by asking if they'd directly contribute their firmware to the project. In the event they are not interested in directly contributing to this project, what form of approval would be required for a 3rd party to contribute on their behalf?

They'd have to approve the pull requests with an account that I can verify to be theirs.
