Disabled apps don't disappear

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Disable a package with "pm disable com.google.android.gm"
2.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

App to disappear from desktop and drawer. When you click on the disabled app it 
does nothing (as expected)

What version of the product are you using? On what phone? What Android
version?

1.3.6 (CM7 inbuilt), Nexus One Android 2.3.3

Please provide any additional information below.

When restarting ADW, the app disappears from the draw but remains on the 
desktop but with standard android icon.
