In some cases the superior relationship of a unit or equipment item needs to be changed during the simulation. This can be accomplished by the application that owns the NETN-ORG object instances: this application just updates the relationships in NETN-ORG. However, this forces the application to become the user entry point for doing these changes. Often this needs to be done from another application, e.g. a scenario management application.
The proposal is to define an HLA interaction to change the superior relationship. The semantics need to be discussed. One possible way of working is:
The receiver (modelling the entities, i.e. a CGF) will perform the change as requested
The application owning the NETN-ORG object instance will perform the change also. The subsequent updates are ignored by the CGF.
Late joiners will see the correct ORBAT in NETN-ORG.
