Guidance on the use of the SymbolIdentifier #60

Closed bergtwvd closed 1 year ago

A Symbol Identification Code (SIDC) must be provided for e.g. a Unit. Typically this an APP-6B value.

MSDL editors may use a wildcard (typically a *) for some APP-6B fields. These fields are to be filled in later by the simulator that will create the entity. For instance the damage state or the Alpha-2 country code. The SIDC in NETN-ORG is not the literal value that must be used, but a template that the owner of the entity uses in creating a valid SIDC.

These semantics have to be captured in the attribute description: the SIDC in NETN-ORG is a template that may contain wildcard characters for fields to be filled in by the recepient that will create the entity.

Semantics updated: "Required. Initial symbol identifier for this element. May contain wildcard characters * for undefined fields."

In NETN-ORG, the Symbol attribute will have the following semantics. "Required. Initial symbol identifier and amplification data for this element. In NETN-ORG the symbol identifier acts as a template and may contain wildcard characters '*' to indicate undefined elements of the symbol code. "
