Block placement near Beam Node #5140

Describe what you would like changed, and why.

When placing some block in the vicinity of a Beam node (a good example would be a radar) it is hard to tell if the block to be placed is in range of the beam node or not. To ilustrate the point, I've attached (I hope) 4 images, in one scenario I try to place a radar just outside the range of the beam node. I took a screenshot before and after placing the node. In the second scenario I place another radar just inside of the node's range. Comparing the images of both scenarios I cannot see any type of visual feedback that I am within range while hovering the radar block (and if there is, it is so subtle that I would say that my point stands).

Describe the changes you want to propose. Include possible alternatives.

As an alternative, I would propose (of the top of my head, maybe it is not technically possible) highlighting the ghost of the block while hovering IF it is in range of any beam node (or similar energy conduit). Other alternative is to highlight the range of the nodes themselves over the terrain. The second one would make placement easier in some cases, but would probably clutter the screen too much in busy maps. The first one is simply an aid to play "marco polo" with the range, but would still be appreciated. Thanks for your work! (and reading)

just make it highlight the beam nodes it will connect to when placing, it would work with any block that needs power like it currently does with beam nodes

Good point, that would be very good.

As a quick note, I'm playing the BE release 25151.
