Missing basic, non-specialised tree seed generator #831

I can't grow basic trees without having specialised seed generators, which take special trees, basically capping my factory, I'm pretty sure you could have basic tree seed generators before? This seems pretty unintended. For 3.2 resin/s i need 18 seed generators...thats a LOT of walking

you should be able to produce temparate/swamp/desert trees with some other recipes

But i agree with you that resin/rubber/bioplastic production from trees should be boosted - because it has low efficiency AFAIK compared to other methods of production.

Yes, which is locked behind tons of science...which needs liquid resin...which needs wood...which needs seed generators lol

I'm 99% sure there was a basic seed generator before, that only could produce basic seeds, i have no idea why it's gone Bio is full of looped dependencies :/

In recent months there were some changes to "alien life plant samples" etc like this: https://github.com/Arch666Angel/mods/pull/784 - in general it is harder now.

I think your options can be:

  1. Gather more big trees manually from map
  2. Use "alien farming" way to produce more big trees.
  3. Produce resin using "liquid resin" way (chemicals).
  4. Add mod like https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Bio_Industries to have more options for wood production.

I've never seen a basic seed generator. Maybe this was added by another mod?

Maybe we can make a loop using the seed extractor? that could act as a basic seed generator (while consuming 'something)

Or just use the basic tree seeds for basic trees and have the special generators actually produce specialised tree saplings from basic seeds instead of specialised seeds?

Like how the Bob's Greenhouse loop works when Bioprocessing is enabled

Sounds like im re-pitching my own ideas in that case... great minds (me and old me) think alike? Yes, something like that...

Never happening... specialized seeds stay specialized, no crossing default -> special

Maybe in exploration alien artifacts could 'influence' something to make the specialized trees faster?
