Washing 1 is available very very early in the tech tree:
The last three recipes that it unlocks (Clay, Limestone, and Sand) are initially used for making Clay Bricks
However, Clay Bricks aren't needed for a long time after this. And hence Clay etc isn't needed for a long time. So it feels strange to have it unlocked so very early in a game.
The earliest (red science) uses of Clay Bricks are:
Algae farm 2
Basic farm
Bioprocessor
Seed extractor
These machines are unique in that they are all unlocked at Red Science but use T1 plates, gears, etc. Everything else unlocked at Red Science uses T0 ingredients.
Algae farm is also unique in that it's the only machine to use T1 and T2 ingredients. Every other machine uses one or the other.
Concrete Bricks
Concrete Bricks are unlocked early Green Science. They are aren't used at all until Blue Science.
Reinforced Concrete Brick
Reinforced Concrete Bricks are unlocked early Blue Science.
The only blue science use of Reinforced Concrete Bricks is Biter refugium. Every other machine that uses Reinforced Concrete Bricks is unlocked at Purple Science or higher.
Proposal
Move Cement processing techs from Red - Blue Science to Green - Purple Science
Move Garden Processing and Farming 1 techs from Red Science to Green Science
There are no farming recipes unlocked at Red Science so there's no need to have farms or seed available
Change Algae farm 2 from using T1 ingredients to using T0 ingredients
This will be similar to how Burner ore crusher and Ore crusher 1 both use T0 ingredients
Move Biter refugium 1 & 2 techs from Blue science to Purple science
This will space the animals out nicely in the tech tree:
