Problem with snippet replacing with `$` and `\` #11

I want to use the plugin for replacing latex expressions that would replace char with char\mathcal{F} but cannot seem to figure out how. Also any snippet with $ is not replaced at all.

Am I using this wrong? Plus, are there sample snippets for beginners to refer to?

I realized that the problem was due to the fact that I didn't not add <space> before :
