I am solving the persistent problem of scholarly journals going dark after a some years by using the permaweb. I want to build a project that provides storage solutions for scholarly journals and a web hosting platform for journals.
For every journal that disappears either because the regular internet failed or because the publisher can no longer support the cost of remaining online, a common problem for many journals in developing countries that do not have the luxury of big budgets, citations (which researchers value), time and resources (which is generally limited in developing countries) are wasted.
Existing research data archiving solutions have failed in solving this problem. They all have limitations from being centralised in decision making (although some claim to run decentralised storage) which makes them prone to censorship , they are expensive and they run a closed system which shuts out journals from developing countries.
The vanishing of research data has implications for the development of the poor countries because research-based data has direct relationship with the development of these countries, it could be important element that aids formulation of effective policies that drive development.
Access does not mean inclusion. But with my solution, I want to give both access and inclusion to all peer-reviewed scholarly journals and contents in developing countries. As a published researcher myself, I had experienced this problem where my research disappeared when the journal went dark. As a journalist who has covered science, education and development will advance if research data is made readily available and perpetual through the permaweb.

The Arweave core team will invest $100,000 USD in total across successful projects submitted during the Open Web Foundry programme. Third-party investors will also consider investing alongside Arweave. The Arweave investment will primarily be made in exchange for the project’s profit sharing tokens.
Selected projects will be presenting their submission during Demo Day, which will take place on March 17th, with investment meetings following soon after.
Note: The bounty has a value of $100,000 USDC on Gitcoin, this is only a representation of the total investment pool of $100,000 USDC that is available - the specific currency will depend on the agreement with the investee(s).
