Rendering scenes with numerous USD skeletons and skinned models crashes Maya #1698

Describe the bug On my CentOS 7 operating system, when I tried to render a scene in Maya with a large amount of USD skeletons and skinned models by using "Interactive" render type, Maya would crash. For your information, I tried the same test on windows 10 machine with similar settings, and Maya would not crash. Also, If I use "Export Ass and Kick" render type to batch render, Maya would not crash. I've attached a sample scene file along with the crash info generated by Maya. I hope it would be helpful.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Start Maya
  2. Open the scene attached
  3. Use Arnold Renderer to render the scene using "Interactive" render type

Expected behavior The scene should be rendered without crashing Maya.

Any updates on this?

Hello @ZimuQin, I downloaded your file but all I see in the zip is the Maya file (.ma) and none of the usd files so when I open the Maya scene it is pretty much empty. Can you upload the usd files that go along with it?

Hi @ZimuQin, Thank you for the file. I tested this on my end and I am seeing the crash on my end as well, specifically on the Linux side. I cannot reproduce on the Windows side. I am going to run a few more tests and will pass this over to our devs to have a look.
