This change fixes some runtime issues that were experienced while importing content for Knox Pages.

[X] confirmed that PHPCS has been run

This also looks good to me. There are some changes in this PR that may or may not be worth folding into this one: #374 – If not that is fine. I think we can close that one then :)

Hey @naxoc ! Since that one is a little stale, I went ahead and merged this one, but I think we should add the changes from that PR also. If you don't mind making the updates, I promise to review the changes!
