Getting data into Garmin TrueUP/Training status/Load #4

Hi again Banzzouille,

It might no be 100% in the scope of your uploader, but - I've found if I change the device in my Wahoo Bolt's FIT files to a non-compatible Garmin TrueUP device (I used Garmin 910XT), the ride data will be included in the training/load/recovery data in garmin connect app with that from my Fenix 6X activities (Just like uploads from Zwift or TrainerRoad).

I have no idea how hard that would be to implement in software, but using the FitFileTools website and just changing the single field in the "device changer" tool works.

Hi @Phil4286 ! I can have a look on how automatically change the device stored in the fit file. But today, i doesn't use wahoo device anymore, can you juste share me an activity recorded with your device to check if it's possible ? Thanks.

edit: does it work if you change it manually with the website you linked than upload it to garmin connect ?

Hi Banzzouille,

Thanks, I appreciate your time! It works when I use the fitfiletools website "device changer", load in my Bolt fit, and use a non-compatible-with-TrueUp device. When I tried changing to a compatible one (Edge 1030) it didn't seem to work?

Attached is the file I converted and the original - I have another ride from yesterday afternoon to try now too.... Wahoo.zip

If you want more files let me know!

Phil.

Yesterdays ride has worked too converted from Bolt to Garmin FR910xt on fitfiletools. It seems to take a few minutes to sync with the device (which does the calculations apparently) and appear in the training load back in Garmin Connect etc. Screenshot_20220624-111802 Wahoo.zip

Big thank you for keeping this tool alive!

Not sure if this message fits this thread but in a way it's about getting data into Garmin Connect.

I have a Garmin Vivomove Sport watch and I realized that it does not even support the Garmin HRM Dual chest strap. So now I'm trying to record my Indoor Rowing session Intensity minutes with the strap on Wahoo and import the data to Garmin Connect.

I'm able to record the time spent in different activity zones in Wahoo but so far the Intensity minutes are not correctly imported to Garmin.

Wahoo_ZoneMinutes GarminConnect_ImportedZoneMinutes

When looking at the imported .fit session I noticed that it gets the Zone minutes data but it is mismatching the zones. Wahoo Zone 2 = Garmin Zone 1 (2:41 in the example) Wahoo Zone 3 = Garmin Zone 2 (1:15 in the example) Wahoo Zone 1 is not imported to Garmin

As a result, Garmin Connect is not adding the right amount of minutes to the Intensity Minutes tracking.

I feel so close to success that it's very frustrating.

Any idea about this?

I hope I don't have to buy another Garmin thing just to make this Heart Rate Monitor work.

Banzzouille commented 9 months ago

Do you have the same HR zones configured on Garmin Connect app and Wahoo app ?

Hilroy300 commented 9 months ago

I tried my best to match the zones. The only difference is:

Wahoo_ZoneRange Garmin_ZoneRange

Banzzouille commented 9 months ago

I think the best is to post on the official garmin forum. You will certainly have a real response....

Hilroy300 commented 9 months ago

They say in the documentation that "activities recorded in a third party app are not compatible with the Intensity Minutes feature". https://support.garmin.com/en-CA/?faq=pNU9nnDzzGAHmEavp9rpY8

So I guess they will end up telling me that if I want to pair a Heart Rate Monitor I need a more expensive Watch like the Vivoactive 5 or something else!

Anyway thank you for taking some time to think about this it's very much appreciated!

FYI: @Phil4286, i also used this device change trick to get my wahoo data into garmin connect for TrueUp/Training Status/Load. It seems they changed something, unfortunately this is not working anymore. I've anyone has an idea, pls tell me ;)
