Remove unused gulp-imagemin dependency
Switch to Less instead of Sass for CSS pre-processing
- This removes the need to install Ruby, the Sass gem, and other dependencies, lowering the entry barrier for contributions.
Remove unnecessary z-index rules and compile CSS
- This fixes an issue where the calendar could be incorrectly rendered behind other elements (it has a higher z-index but its parent had a lower z-index).

Not a fan of less and don't consider it a barrier for contributions but I'll put this into a separate branch for anyone wanting to use less as their preprocessor. Would merge into master if you could toggle the preprocessor via a gulp script. (i.e. gulp --less)
