🐛 [BUG] - Surface Pro 7 touch have many interruptions (unusable): starts and stops "touchnig" many times at once #47

Description

I tried bliss OS on Surface Pro 7 and touch is not working properly. When I swipe or even touch screen in one place it starts detecting touch and stops detecting touch many times at once. It seems that when I put very high pressure while touching it works better (but still sometimes breaks) so maybe it is because sensitivity or something like that is set to wrong value. I attach video where I touch screen with pen, but it is pen imitating standard touch (and not something like dedicated Surface Pen, which (or rather some cheap alternative) I used to turn on developer options and "Show taps" and "Pointer location" because I probably wouldn't be able to do that with standard touch). In video, from around 10 to 30s there is press for which I use a lot of force and rest is standard force "swipes".

Version of bliss os I used is now "Bliss-Surface-v15.9-x86_64-OFFICIAL-gapps-20240114.iso" from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/blissos-x86/files/Official/BlissOS15/Gapps/Surface/. (link to blissOS 15 from official site), but a week ago or something like that I used probably also blissOS 14, blissOS 15 and blissOS 16 FOSS versions and problem were present also there (but I might wrongly remember versions so I can test it again if it is needed)

I used only live version (I didn't installed it), can this be a reason why this is happening?

Reproduction steps

1. Have Surface Pro 7 and run blissOS dedicated for surface devices.
2. Optionally turn on "Show taps" and "Pointer location" settings in developer options.
3. touch screen and see that it interrupts itself.

I probably should also mention that this issue is not present on standard linux with "linux-surface" kernel (tested on Spiral Linux upgraded to Debian testing Trixie).

I think that installing it might allow the iptsd daemon to function as it should. Please try and let us know

I installed it (I needed to shrink a little my windows partition) and problem is still there. I think I noticed something that I didn't noticed on live usb before (but after trying it again it is true also to live usb): It sometimes work properly for a second or few but then for a second or few it does the same thing I described in my issue. (I move my finger around the screen and it irregularly switches between working properly and not working properly. These periods in witch it works (or not) properly can last somewhere around 0.5 to 8 seconds.

Try calibrating it: https://docs.blissos.org/configuration/calibrate-and-configure-iptsd/

I have this exact same problem on surface pro 9

vithusel commented 5 months ago

Confirming this issue is present on Surface Pro 5. Trying to press and hold on keyboard ends up with the equivilent of the key being spammed rather then held down.

Hi there, I have the same issue on my surface pro 7 as well, everything else works perfectly, just the touchscreen issue.

I have the same prblem on surface pro 7 I use Bliss OS 16.9.x (x86_64-v3) with GApps & linux-surface. the problem still exists after calibrating

I have the same problem. I tried setting Disable = true in iptsd.conf, and touch was not turned off; there is no ipts directory under /data/vendor/, and manually creating a new one and then adding Disable = true to 90-calibration.conf does not work either! I have a Surface Pro 8 and have tried both 15.9.1 and 16.9.4.

I have the same issue on my SP7 with 14.10.2. The config file just doesn't get read even when you put it in the right place according to the docs. Pen works fine though.
