When I implement the gravity force given in the Write-Up for the planet, I receive a very strange behavior as seen in the screenshots below. What could be the problem here?

In general, it's to better to avoid posting code publicly.

It's difficult to say where the problem might be, as the implementation looks correct. When the planet is enabled and no optimization is done. The trajectory should look like this:
