Generally speaking, if your time horizon is shorter your control actions might be more aggressive (larger) since you are trying to solve a task in a short time window.
You could try to set the same K for both examples and compare the magnitudes of U.
I noticed that my solution for Ex.8 favors larger values of u compared with shooting; otherwise the optimization solution does not match physics. Wondering if it's because of a mistake in my code, or is this the result of e.g. smaller value for K.
